With members across the globe, the ASBA’s goal is to information, education and inspiration for all who appreciate contemporary botanical art. The ASBA provides a thriving, interactive community dedicated to perpetuating the tradition and contemporary practice of botanical art.

Botanical Gardens

Chicago Botanical Garden

Located in Glencoe, Illinois, the Chicago Botanical Gardent traces its history to the 1890 Chicago Horticultural Society. The current location began in 1965, growing into a world renowned botanical center for exhibitions, research and education. Many members of the Reed-Turner Botanical Artist have taken course and gotten a certified from the Chicago Botanical Garden. The traditional track requires seven foundational required courses, and your choice of 60 instructional hours of elective courses culminating in a portfolio review.

Morton Arboretum

Located in Lisle, Illinois, the Morton Arboretum was founded in 1922 by Joy Morton, whose father founded Arbor Day. Over the decades, the Arboretum has continued to evolve, while staying true to the Morton family motto, “Plant Trees.” Today the mission goes beyond the extensive grounds, reaching out globally to collect, study, display, and conserve trees and other plants from around the world to inspire learning, foster enjoyment, benefit communities, encourage action, and enhance the environment.

Morton Arboretum has courses from identifying trees in winter to conservation to botanial drawing basics. Nature Artist Guild hold meetings and have exhibitions at the Morton Arboretum. Reed-Turner Botanical Artist members have been members of this organization and participated in their activities and exhibitions.

Beverly Behrens Country Garden Watercolor website is filled with her botanicals, including fruits and vegetables, fungi. She works in watercolors, graphite, pen/Ink, colored pencil. No matter the subject matter or the medium, her artwork appears fresh and her compositions are engaging.

Heeyoung Kim

Heeyoung Kim has been a botanical artist since 2007. She teaches her Botanical Art Academy classes among pristine woodlands at Brushwood Center, the Ryerson historic home in Riverwoods, Il. Her website reviews her classes and her shop displays her botanical art.

Christina Loverings gallery varies from though intriguing collages to traditional botanical illustration done with scientific precision. As well as her website, Christina Lovering can be found on Instagram, Facebook and at local exhibit. She has an online market place - Etsy - where she sells her botanically inspired artwork.

Sandra Lema-Stern displays her gallery which truly displays her goal of rendering the softness and the strength of the botanicals. She works in graphite and colored pencils, and on cotton paper, cotton rag, and film. She is available for commission work.
